Scholastic Phonics Reading Program

Lei is 6 and starting to read, so when a friend of mine suggested I use this program with Lei I didn't think twice. She used it with her boys and her boys read well and read a lot!
The first box in this 5 step program is Step 1. Inside the box are 4 packages. In each package is a workbook, 3 readers, stickers, and a game.
The 1st book of the program is Go, Go, Go. Lei read this book really well since he knew most of the words already. I also like how the beginner books have picture prompts. So for example, a line in the book reads " I see (insert picture of muffins)." "I see (insert picture of milk)." This is really gives the child confidence as he reads as these words are harder and they don't have to actually read them.
We are moving onto the second book this week. I am going to do each book for 2 weeks. The first week i will concentrate on the words for the book. I make flash cards and we work on recognizing and spelling the words. When we get to the book he knows the words and can read the book!
I honestly feel like this program will be a success for Lei! He didn't moan and groan when i said it was time to do his reading...and because the story is exciting he actually reads with emotion! Go, Go, Go!
